T-Drama Review: When I See You Again Episode 9

OH MY GOD!!!! IT HAPPENED!!! After 9 episodes, it has happened! Praise all that is holy in dramaland!!!!

Throughout half of the episode, I was ready to flip tables when it seemed Yan Ze was busy flirting it up with An Xi mainly because it hurt to see Ya En's face fall. Girl has it bad and can you blame me for wanting her happiness? Even if you do blame me, I make no apologies for that. Anyways, I was really sad when Yan Ze asked An Xi to accept his heart (did you see Ya En's expression??), I thought he was going too far knowing how You Qian felt. However, I was pleasantly surprised when he revealed his plan was to bring them together. I don't know what his motivation was, but I was happy with him at that moment. He brought up some good observations that even You Qian (nor I) ever noticed: Whenever An Xi felt slightly uncomfortable, she went to You Qian so it didn't surprise Yan Ze when he asked for her heart she ran straight to You Qian. That showed she actually had feelings for him so the plan was to force her to confess them and not hide behind her work. I have to say that making her feel uncomfortable enough to say what she really feels was slightly hilarious since you know it was hard for You Qian to sit there and watch her be tortured, but it had to happen. An Xi indeed hides behind everything at Lunar Maria so she won't have to face the inevitable, so I'm glad Yan Xi realized what her problem was.

Another problem is that in the form of Hu Yong Qing. In the beginning she didn't express or even slightly show interest in You Qian, it seemed like she just came along whenever she needed him, but this time she actually looked sad. She is the one responsible for his makeover, but it started off a simple project for her until he was actually "hot" and she muttered him looking like another person. Now aside from her feelings that will go unrequited, I am wondering who this other person she's referring to is. I'm going with a first love that ended badly which would explain why she's been clinging onto him for so long despite the very obvious fact that he has no feelings for her whatsoever. If Yong Qing had a relationship that didn't end well and she still has lingering feelings then she's using You Qian as a "replacement" so to speak since he resembles this guy. It's a way for her to cope and not fully move on from her ex. I hope we dive more into that part of her story instead of just making her a bitter second lead who can't get the memo and move on.

Yan Ze is a complicated character since we're not exactly sure what he's thinking. His character bio said he's You Qian's rival, but does that just mean for work and not in their personal lives? Will he care that Yong Qing will go after You Qian now that she sees him happy with someone else? I'm really curious about what role he'll play in our story since he seems to be a central person to Yong Qina and You Qian. He did help our OTP come together and even got help from Lunar Maria staff, so I'm wondering what else he will do during his stay there. Part of me (well most of me) is hoping he'll get closer to Ya En. Yes, I'm still pushing this because they'd be cute together, but does he really see her as anything other than the girl who fainted at the hospital? He makes it a point to pat her head every time he sees her, but that could be nothing. Let me stop rambling about this because we know nothing about how he thinks. He's basically a new character to the main plot so we'd have to wait and see.
