A Hundred Years' Inheritance/Legacy(백년의 유산): Episode 20 Recap
Episode 20

Seol Ju asks if she's JuRi's mom and Chae Won gives her back the envelope and walks back inside. Seol Ju asks what's going on and Young Ja says that you shouldn't take care of anyone else's child and this is what happens. They talk over water and Young-ja tells her that her son met the wrong woman who has a history with men and her son is so innocent. She says they divorced after 3 years of marriage, but that doesn't explain what she was doing. She sits back and says that even when Chae Won was married, JuRi didn't like her so now that she's working at the same company, she's uncomfortable. So she asked her to move to a different company and she asked for 5 billion won, Seol Ju then asks for her department and her name. She then asks her to forget everything she had said to her. I was going to keep going, but I have to pause for a second. Is Seol Ju really that stupid or is she feigning ignorance right now? Did she not see the money exchange and clearly hear Chae Won say she wasn't taking 500 million won to quit her job? Like I swear, what the hell did she think was in that envelope, I honestly hope she didn't believe any of that.
Once again, JuRi vists Chae Won's office and slams the door to let her presence be known. This time, it's not really acknowledged with anything. She storms over and asks why she didn't take the money, she says she told her mother that. She'll take 5 billion to quit and JuRi scoffs at her being so confident. Chae Won asks why shouldn't she be, aren't the ones who aren't confident her and her mother? JuRi asks what's the real reason she won't quit, is it because she found their weakness and she is taking revenge for what happened at their house. Chae Won tells her she has no interest in any of that and is it okay for her to doing that during her work hours. JuRi walks out.
At his blind date, Kkeut Soon is just throwing compliments about HyoDong and even says he's a catch, hey that's what the young people say these days. Choon Hee is still watching this unfold and isn't happy about it. Both mothers get up to leave so they can talk, but HyoDong appears to be uncomfortable you know given the fact that he's in love with Choon Hee and all. He gets up to go to the bathroom and spots Choon Hee and is shocked to see her. She stands up, calls him a bad guy and leaves while he says it's a misunderstanding. He chases her out while leaving his date calling after him. He tells her that it's all a misunderstanding, but she saw everything and doesn't believe it. He tries to explain why he's on the blind date before she slaps him and says that she was a fool for trusting someone like him and stalks off. She encounters Jin when she returns but is in no mood to deal with him then HyoDong comes after her. He wants her to apologize for slapping him and let him explain what was going on. Jin asks if he went on a date and he said that it was arranged and wants to explain the reasons for him going. She says to end things and he agrees since she hit him and he's sick of hot tempered women. Ironically, it's Jin who is trying to be the mediator between the two asking them to talk it out, they shouldn't just break up this easily. They both say they had fun with each other and leave. Jin tries to stop him, but he just walks away.

Everyone is eating dinner when Pyong Dal notes that it isn't the same without the tables being full. DoHee says that Chae Won is at a meeting and will be home late while Ki-Moon says that HyoDong must be having fun on his blind date if he's still not back. Kkeut Soon says that she could tell this was the right one for him, she was as kind as Buddha. Ki-Choon says that it's already too late, why would he leave a beautiful woman like Madam Yang for someone who looked like Buddha. Then Choon Hee, Ki Ok, and Kang Sook get in jealously mode and begin talking about how they'd get tired of someone that beautiful if they were men and whatnot. I really don't want to get into the specifics because I'm growing tired of them. The phone rings and Kkeut Soon is told that HyoDong left his blind date and never came back. She repeats the words and everyone but Pyong Dal and Bo Reum come running to her side. She doesn't understand why, but Ki-Choon knows the answer: He only went because of her, but his heart lies with Madam Yang. Kkeut Soon threatens to sew his mouth shut. She's about to leave to go get him since she figured he was at the cafe when he walks in. She asks where he's been, but he just says he's tired and goes to his room. Pyong Dal tells her to let him go since he probably has a headache.(I swear, Ki-Choon and Pyong Dal are the only ones in this family with any kind of sense. He's a grown man, leave him alone and let him be with the one who he wants to be with. I really can't stand the women in this family). Once inside his room, he thinks about his argument with Choon Hee and sighs, turns out they're both thinking about it. She sits up and laments that she thought he was different and wouldn't change, but she guesses all men are the same.

Chae Won is eating and mostly drinking with her coworkers who thought she was coy, but she's enjoying her welcome to the company party. Yeah, she's drunk and SeYoon keeps sneaking looks at her. After they're done, everyone wants to take one taxi since they're all in the same direction except Chae Won. They see how drunk she is and offer to wait until she leaves, but she insists that she can get home just fine. They want to make sure she gets off first, but she says no since she's their hoobae and it would be mutiny to let her go first. They leave but are still worried about her and tell her to get home safely.
After sending them off, she decides it's time for her to head home as well. She's stumbling along, barely able to walk and then we see someone behind her: the hottest stalker alive Lee SeYoon! Yes, he's following close behind her. He catches her before she falls and she looks up at him and says 'Who are you again?'. He says that she drank everything that was offered and are wits are gone she says he's Captain Hong and describes a movie. She says that he always shows up whenever she's in trouble and then says you're Captain Lee! Inside his car she says there's no problem and she's okay, of course he doesn't believe her. Before he starts the car, his phone rings and it's his very own stalker JuRi. He's trying to figure if he should answer it and ignores it. Chae Won looks as if she's fallen asleep, but her head snaps up when she hears the phone and goes searching for her hers and answers it. She's "talking" to her dad saying she's dad with the party and she's in a cab on her way home. Then she falls asleep. Funniest thing ever! Even if you don't want to watch the entire episode, this scene is just priceless.

Ki-Moon and DoHee are sneaking around the noodles at night attempting to switch theirs with his brother's. He doesn't want to, but she says that in the movies people go to extreme things to win and they'll inherit the money in the end. Why he would listen to her when he clearly doesn't want to do it is beyond me, he's just as bad as HyoDong. They think they're caught when SeYoon calls out to see if anyone is up. Ki-Moon and DoHee know him of course and he finds out they're related to Chae Won. DoHee asks why he's bringing her home and he says she drank a lot at the dinner party and he was running an errand this way so he just brought her home. DoHee asks about his family and he replies that everyone is okay. Ki-Moon invites him in for some tea since he came all the way there, but he declines since it's late. DoHee smells something fishy and says they don't work in the same department plus she's new, so why is he bringing her home? He tells her to stop that nonsense and takes his niece inside. She's still wary before following. SeYoon pops his head to see her go in and smiles. At that, I dies!

The judging for the noodles has began and DoHee looks confident. He starts with Ki-Ok and says she didn't choose the right salt and the shape isn't right so the taste isn't pure, he gives her 40 points. Then it's time to taste Ki-Choon and Kang Sook's noodles and he has nothing to say. He goes and tastes Ki-Moon and DoHee's noodles and tells them that even though they didn't choose the right flour, the combination of hard & soft flour and the use of sea salt made it good. Their noodles are the best out of the three. The other 3 think something is wrong since they were the worst ones last time. Pyong Dal says that noodles are like your children and you can't trade them because you think they're ugly. And someone can't sit around and let their kids be taken. He then calls out Ki-Moon and DoHee for trading their noodles with Ki-Choon and Kang Sook's. He disqualifies his oldest son and gives zero points to the other for not realizing what had happened.
HyoDong goes to visit Choon Hee to apologize for what happened, but he sees that she's leasing out her store. When he walks in he sees her telling the potential owners that she can have the store empty by the end of the week. The Realtor says that they're leasing it at a cheap price because she's leaving for the US suddenly. As soon as they leave, he wants to know why she didn't tell him that she was moving.
He says that no matter how disappointed she was with him, she should have at least say something, but she tells him it's not his concern and she made the decision. He tells her to do as she pleases and walks out, she stands there and is hurt because he should have begged her not to go. He walks out and Jin is coming down the stares as he throws the roses on the ground. Jin tells him that he needs to get on his knees and beg her, but HyoDong doesn't want to since she'll do as she wants. Jin tells him that it's not the time to think about his pride, but he just walks away. As he's walking out he sees Seol Ju walk into Choon He''s place and thinks she's the new owner. Seol Ju sees the sign and walks in, Choon Hee hears the bell and thinks it's HyoDong so she asks what is it now, but Seol Ju calls her. She's brought some seafood kimchi that her housekeeper made and says she noticed the sign on the door. Choon Hee says that there is nothing good left in Korea for her so as soon as it's leased out, she's leaving. Seol Ju asks if there is anything she needs help with and Choon Hee says that just seeing her after 30 years is enough. Seol Ju apologizes for everything, but Choon Hee thanks her for being by her side 30 years ago when she was roaming around like a crazy woman and she says sorry for being mean when it wasn't needed. Seol Ju doesn't think she needs to be sorry either and a few tears fall.
In the cafeteria, Chae Won is putting up the menu for today when SeYoon walks in and "scolds" her for not saying thank you when he dropped her off at home. She thanks him because she heard that from her aunt then she says she left some Pollock soup on his desk with a note on it. He didn't see it and thinks his assistant took it. She asks him if he was there for a get-together himself that night and he says yes. She asks if she did made any mistakes last night since she takes after her dad in the light drinker department, but he laughs and she asks what is it. He says there was nothing like that and sees she created a website for the cafeteria, she says it's for the menu and so she can get reviews on the food. He tells her that it's a good idea and she praises herself saying her nickname has always been 'Idea Bank'. He laughs and says first it's drunk drama and now she's self-flattering. All she hears is 'drunk drama' and thinks she did something while she was drunk. At this time JuRi is walking in, but stops when she sees them talking and realizes she can't leave Chae Won alone.
Hong-ju's mom is metting with Young-Ja and says she knows she surprised them with her wanting to set a wedding date so soon. She says that rushing the wedding may have some thinking that the bride has a flaw, but Young-ja insists that's not it. Her mother says that her father-in-law is very ill and they were told to prepare. Since they are a family that respects traditions, if he dies then she can't get married for 3 years plus her daughter is older. Young-ja just nods. Hong-Ju and Chul Gyu are walking when she says that her mother is probably using her grandfather as an excuse to rush the wedding and wonders if her scheme is working. He says she's speaking as if she's talking about another person, but she says she doesn't get along with her mom. He says he's not on good terms with his either then she says that he's painted as a devoted son. He corrects her and say it's probably a mama's boy and she agrees that's it, they say he's the biggest mama's boy of the century. He says that his mother isn't an easy person and will probably bully her if she decides to marry him she looks up and at him asks if he's decided to marry her. He'll tell her after he discusses it with someone, but she thinks it's a fortune teller.
Chul Gyu and Hong-Ju meet up with their moms and Young-ja takes her hand and wonders if she's cold. Hong-ju says she's fine and Young Ja comments on how demure and graceful she is. She's just throwing out the compliments and asks why it took her so long to come to them, Hong-Ju smiles at her as she asks her to be her daughter instead. Chul Gyu rolls his eyes and her mother looks at her in a strange way, he notices this as well.
Chul Gyu is waiting when Chae Won comes home, he wants to talk to her but she says she has nothing to talk with him about. He asks for 10 minutes of her time and she agrees. He informs her of the marriage meeting and how his mom likes her, the wedding date is about to be set since the other side is rushing. He asks her if they can start over again, is it really over? She says yes, it's over between them, but he says it didn't end for him. If there's a thread of hope then he wants to start over again. He starts tearing up as he's telling her that he can't send her away. She says that their fate has ended, he did all he could but she still won't go back to him. She tells him now that he's found a new person to start again, since his mother likes her then he'll truly be happy. Since it's the last time he'll be seeing her, he hugs her with tears falling down he tells her to live well. They part ways. I've realized over these last episodes that he's not a bad person, he's not evil just misguided. He's a product of his living environment, his mother babied him and did everything for him so he turned into a mama's boy and was unable to break free of that in time to fix his marriage. I think Chae Won still loves him, but she knows that too much has been done to start over again. Not to mention his mother is a pain in the ass, not in the annoying way Kkeut Soon is. Even if Chae Won were to still be in love with Chul Gyu, it would never happen because of his mother.
In their room, Ki-Moon is telling DoHee that he knew switching the noodles was a bad idea, but she fires back that had he chosen the right material then she wouldn't have thought about it(So she's justifying stealing their noodles because her husband didn't use to the right ingredients? Makes sense) and that's what she keeps thinking. He says he would have preferred to come in last than to be disqualified from the next competition then she says that had their son, Seol Rong, been there then it wouldn't have happened. Ki-Moon can't see how their son would have been of any help. She calls him and he answers "Yo! What's up Mommy?" and she yells at him to come home. Ki-Choon and Kang Sook are talking to Pyong Dal saying it's unfair for them to receive a zero because their noodles were stolen, they're asking for at least something. He's not budging and tells them to just be prepared for the next competition. They ask for a hint, but he asks if they're done with dinner yet and walks out of the room. Kang Sook is understandably pissed and wants to go after her, but Ki-Choon tells her to calm down.
HyoDong is laying down feeling sad when Chae Won comes in asking if he's sick or hurt. She tells him to go eat, but he isn't hungry. She thinks it's strange and still wonders if something is wrong with him. He sends her out to dinner and then thinks about his last conversation with Choon Hee and cries about their love not meaning anything since she's decided to leave without telling him. Meanwhile, Choon Hee is cleaning and wondering why he didn't try to stop her from leaving, doesn't he love her.
Young-Ja wonders if Chul Gyu has been with Hong-ju this whole time and he says no he went for a drive to think about some things. She whines because she wants to know. He simply answers that he'll do it and she's so happy you'd think he was just cured of cancer or something. He's slightly shocked and asks if she's that happy about it. JuRi comes down and is informed about her brother's decision to get married, he just walks upstairs without anything more to say.
Chae Won walks into work and sees Se Yoon and asks why she's so happy, she just got her paycheck. She doesn't remember the last time she received one, so it almost doesn't seem real. Now her dad can finally relax and it's all because of SeYoon. He asks if she's only going to thank him in words and asks her to buy him something. He offers up tonight, but she has a meeting at the Crystal Hotel(You know when they mention names of things, something is going to be happen and it isn't good), but definitely next time she'll treat him to 2 meals.
It must be the day of Chul Gyu's wedding since Young-Ja is wearing a Hanbok..and it is, we see Hong-Ju waiting in her dress. Young-ja seems happy and asks her if she had a nice dream last night. Then she hears something whimpering and sees her holding a dog. Hong-ju says that it's her dog Coco and she's there because she's a family member. She stands up so Young-Ja can see it, but she falls over as she's trying to walk away from it. She puts the dog down and it appears that she's going to help her new mother-in-law up, but she goes after Coco when she walks away. Young-ja looks like she's shocked that she wasn't helped up. Chul Gyu arrives for his wedding and sees Chae Won walking up and stares at her, she pauses. Then Hong-Ju comes out looking for Coco. Hong-ju sees him and then looks to see who he's staring at..it's Chae Won. End.
