Thoughts & Ramblings: Mischievous Kiss 2: Love in Tokyo
Season 2 of Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo has begun airing and I thought it was fitting to give my thoughts on the show thus far. I was excited to see season 2 because I love seeing Naoki and Kotoko in their marriage and it's my favorite part of the entire ItaKiss story especially the jealousy arc, it's what really marks a changing point in their relationship.
This season seems to be moving quite fast with the plot, but it's not short on the emotions and definitely pulls your heartstrings. Seeing Kotoko so heartbroken and being the one to try and mend her marriage makes me sad for. Yes, I've seen the other versions and I still get the same emotions each time. Seeing Naoki finally getting those human emotions we've all experienced feels kind of satisfying in a way. He's always looked down on Kin-chan for his infatuation with Kotoko and now he gets see things in a more emotional perspective. In season 1, he said how envious he was of Kotoko for having goals and never giving up and now he has another reason to be envious of those with human emotions. To be fair towards Naoki, he's never experienced jealousy (or love for that matter) so when he confessed his undying love for Kotoko, he barely had time to process it before his mother had them walking down the aisle 2 weeks later. Everyday is a learning experience for him and this will be his biggest lesson of all, he'll see that his position as Kotoko's husband and only love is threatened and he can be replaced if she gets tired of his crap.

Okay this isn't the only story line, we also have the addition of Christine 'Chris' Robbins aka the girl who will officially takeover Kin-chan's heart after Kotoko. I was actually surprised with how fast their relationship moved or shall I say how soon she realized she loved him..until I watched They Kiss Again over and saw it happens pretty soon. What did go by fast was him realizing his own feelings for her, she almost left as soon as she showed up. My main issue with this season is that time goes by very fast and scenes seem cut too quickly so Chris trying to leave happened quick, but it was still cute how Kin-chan was sad that he though he missed her. I am hoping they will show them getting married like they did in the Taiwanese version.
As for the family, Mama Irie is just as nosy and that's what we all love about her. She's the ultimate shipper and was one of the first to realize Naoki's feelings (Yuki aside since he saw the hospital kiss for himself). During Naoki and Kotoko's emotional separation, she didn't meddle as much (at least from what I have seen so far) and she tries to get them to work it out on their own. Both dads are adorbs and their friendship has always been something I've loved about this series. They didn't see each other for years and were brought back together due to Papa Ahaira's house issue, but their kids coming together was a sign they were destined to always be close.
My overall thoughts on this season so far: Even though I am really frustrated with how the production company chose to handle this season, I am enjoying it so far. Yes, I've seen some issues with Furukawa Yuki's acting this time around, but I'll wait to really judge his performance. Honoka Miki has done very well this season and I felt her emotions in episode 6 when Kotoko yelled at Naoki.
Sorry this is so short, I had gone through many revisions of this post and just settled on rambling about my feelings so far. I'll do a series review when this season ends.
