All About My Romance...A Great Show Has Ended
The End To A Great Drama
Well sadly the time has come and episode 16 to All About My Romance aired, it was met with much sadness and happiness. WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, DON'T CONTINUE READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. Continue ahead, if you just want to relive the awesomeness of the finale. This isn't a recap, but just going over how well written it was.
This was one of the best written dramas I have seen in a while and the second one I became immersed in, the first was Faith with Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun. More on my love for Faith later, now it's all about All About My Romance.
Honestly, I was worried about how the ending would play out: Would it leave our OTP alone, would they get together at the end or at the beginning? My worse fear? Having an open ending, that's the worst endings a drama could ever have. We as drama lovers want to see everything come to a complete close with all the lose ends tied up and all of our questions answered. THAT'S the ending we want, not something that questions whether or not they ended up together! I've been saying this in the Soompi forums, Greatest Love had one of the best endings for a K-Drama. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do right away because you are missing out on a treat^^. AAMR ended the way I wanted it to: We KNOW our couple ended up together plus we got a few goodies along the way. Here's what happened(Condensed Version):
Remember that puzzle Soo Young was working on ALL drama long? Well apparently it had a purpose the entire time. He was finishing it for Min Young and sent it to her as a present..more on that later. Min Young goes on a long trip abroad with Bori, I think it was just to take her mind off of the breakup and receives a picture of her, Joon Ha, and Bori as a present. A year later, Soo Young and Min Young are in the same restaurant on blind dates, though it's very obvious they're still very sad over their relationship. Our 1 year time jump lasted 5 minutes before we get another year later with Bong Sik campaigning for a reelection along with Dong Sook and Soo Young. Min Young has been keeping tabs on politics since her withdrawal from office. Soo Young and Dong Sook are both reelected while Bong Sik isn't, but he isn't sad at all & he just quits politics altogether then becomes a radio dj(awesome right?). Remember that puzzle Soo Young sent off? Well a strike at the post office caused them to forget about it and Min Young didn't get it until 2 years later. Yes, TWO YEARS LATER! It's a puzzle of Vincent Van Gogh's painting with a little added extra: a fire extinguisher in the bottom corner. He wrote a card saying he's wait for her. Aww! With the help of people around them, Soo Young finds out where Min Young is giving a lecture and asks whether something that was put on pause can be set in motion again. Whether something that had a nonexistent future suddenly have a future together. Her response? It all depends on how well you do. In Noh Min Young speak that's a definite yes.
During a marathon, Bong Sik ends up and Dong Sook's house and confesses his love for her, she accepts his heart. Finally! He says he wants to be with his first love and would like her to be his last. Awww! Looks like he's ripened up for her<3. Leader Go tells Min Young he didn't kill her sister, that it was all an accident which allows her to take Soo Young back without any guilt. Imo Young Sook is still against their relationship and makes it known, while Bori is easily swayed once he buys her a tablet. Oh, kids! Eventually though she sees how much they love each other when she catches them hugging and doesn't interrupt. Soo Young withdraws from his party, cuts all ties with his father, and sets up his own party that consists of politicians from other parties. Soo Young and Min Young are married then are shown to have had 2 kids. The End.
Okay that was the basics, but along with our Fire Extinguisher Couple and Darling Moon Couple, this show spawned another 2 possible relationships: Sang Soo-Yoon Hee and Joon Ha - Hee Sun. We also discover that Bong Sik's former secretary, Park Bu San, was the one behind all of those videos of Bong Sik's mishaps. Guess it's not good to beat up your assistants is it? Hehe.
The entire series was perfectly written, each and every episode was amazing. Even though the ratings were very unfavorable, SBS saw great potential and never gave up on the cast and crew. They were able to see the strong fan base it created and were always showered with great support from fans all over the world. The cast and crew worked very hard from beginning to end and as a fan, I am eternally grateful for their hard work. I said it wouldn't be a recap and it turned into one, couldn't help it. In this ending we not only saw them get back together, but they had children! Bong Sik and Dong Sook finally got together. Joon Ha confessed his feelings for Min Young, putting a close to that part of his heart while Hee Sun is on the verge to do the same. I am glad the writer was able to bring everything to a close while also showing a new beginning for each character. There were no useless side characters, everyone was essential to the story and was somehow connected to our couple. The cinematography was to die for, the director definitely knew what he was doing. The shots of the cherry blossoms and even the trip to the mountains was beautifully shot. Here is one of their wedding photos.
