A Little More Than Halfway: All About My Romance(SPOILERS)

 All About My Romance: Midpoint Review

      Well not to long ago, I gave you reasons to watch All About My Romance with Shin Ha Kyun and Lee Ming Jung. Now since we're on episode 11, I'll give a midpoint review. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! If you would rather not know what's going on then don't click on this article! This won't be long, so no worries =)

First kiss

     Kim Soo Young(SHK) is a legislator for the Greater Korea Party, a conservative political party while Noh Min Young(LMJ) is the leader of the Progressive Labor Party. They became acquainted with each other when Min Young accidentally hits him in the head with a fire extinguisher while trying to open a door that was supposedly being held for a secret meeting from the opposing party. From then on, attention has been on Min Young and Soo Young with her being shown as the violent one. Since then, they have become closer with Soo Young developing feelings first. It takes a while for Min Young to even acknowledge the fact that she may like Soo Young and even longer to actually give in to those feelings. She doesn't want to pursue anything further with him due to dear that she'll appear fake and doesn't stand behind what she's been saying. 

     After being rejected by Min Young twice, Soo Young cuts off his hair and begins to seek power within his party. He tells Joon Ha that he's resolved his feelings and no longer feels anything for Min Young, which she's devastated to hear. From the surface, it appears that he's turning into the type of politicians that he despises and this is exactly what Min Young sees. He begins to pick fights with her which aggravates her and in turn causes her to be angry with him, even going as far as saying she's sorry she even felt anything for him. Remember, the only person(besides Min Young) who knows Soo Young's feelings is Aide Maeng Joo Ho(Jang Gwang) and he's been working diligently to make sure they end up together and is in on his boss's plan. Secretary Kim Sang Soo(Jin Tae Hyun), however, is totally clueless and thinks Soo Young likes Rep. Go Dong Sook(Kim Jung Nan). With Soo Young's change in behavior and sudden interest in his party has his fellow lawmakers worried. Namely Rep. Moon Bong Sik, who was one of the many who wanted Soo Young removed from the GKP. However, there's a wee little secret that no one knows: GKP Leader Go Dae Ryong(Chun Ho Jin) is Soo Young's father. Apparently Soo Young is the secret love child that was never really acknowledged, hence why his surname is Kim instead of Go. 

     Reporter Ahn Hee Sun also has eyes for Soo Young, but as we've seen so far, he doesn't acknowledge her feelings at all. Though after being rejected twice by the same person, he starts to feel sorry for Hee Sun due to him being in the same position. He agrees to take her out to dinner which turns sour in an elevator ride when she tries to kiss him, which he flatly rejects. Soo Young also knows that Joon Ha is in love with Min Young, who is utterly clueless about his true feelings and intentions. Anyways, with Soo Young seemingly out of the way, Joon Ha feels secure again knowing Min Young won't be with the 'enemy'. However, Soo Young's random change in position and behavior was all an act as Min Young discovers when he hands her a proposal to secretly date. He changed his attitude to make everyone around them believe that they truly hated each other so no one would even suspect them of being together. Smart plan Soo Young sshi because Min Young agrees after realizing her feelings and attempt to put herself first for once. Though all is not candies and rainbows because Joon Ha starts snooping around her desk and finds the proposal and sees that she signed it. 

Tension in the dressing room. Rawr!

     With Soo Young and Min Young dating, more hijinks ensue when they find themselves in a dressing room hiding from Bong Sik. Min Young has the bright idea to have Dong Sook call him to come out for an urgent matter, which he hurriedly leaves to see his noona. However he's a bit disappointed when it turns out that there wasn't an emergency, but she said "just because". Later on, Hee Sun follows Soo Young into the elevator and begins talking about Joon Ha and Min Young stating that they look good together since they were each other's first loves. This is something that Soo Young didn't know, but now has become clear since Min Young holds him on a high pedal-stool. Hee Sun also sees Min Young and asks for help in her getting Soo Young, which is news to Min Young who thought she was with Joon Ha the entire time since Hee Sun is always at his house. She corrects her and says she used to date Joon Ha and now she likes Soo Young. Obviously Min Young is jealous since it seems that Soo Young is too nice to Hee Sun and lines are being blurred. Both don't want to sound petty about these things and choose not to talk about it. 

Min Young afraid of being noticed 

     On a district conference in which both Soo Young and Min Young attend, Hee Sun is determined to be with him and makes excuses for her being there. She tries to go to his hotel room with wine, but misses him and figures he's going to see Min Young. He has an umbrella so shield his face from the elevator camera and from being caught by anyone. He tells Min Young that nothing is going on with Hee Sun, but they're interrupted by Hee Sun and Dong Sook. He sneaks out and enters Bong Sik's room, but Hee Sun is looking for him and is happy/disappointed that she could find no evidence of him ever being there. Dong Sook however sees an umbrella and then we see that she saw him enter Min Young's room and chose no to say anything. During a group hike, Min Young becomes jealous of seeing Hee Sun clinging on a very annoyed Soo Young and storms off leaving the group behind. It starts to rain and everyone goes back to the hotel, Soo Young notices she isn't there and sets out to look for her, Hee Sun sees he left and goes looking for him. 

He saw her crying..

     Min Young is lost and almost falls before Soo Young catches her. They find shelter and he starts a fire. Seriously? What else does he have in that backpack of his?! She wonders that everyone will notice only they are missing and he wonders if she's worried, but she says that it's thrilling. Meanwhile, Hee Sun is lost and seems relieved to have found shelter...until she sees something she dreaded: Min Young and Soo Young together...and kissing. We hear a voice over from her saying that she has contained herself long enough and will become crazy if she finds out someone has been lying to her. Soo Young has kept his relationship a secret and this will be enough to send her flying. 

      At first Hee Sun was just funny and slightly annoying, but now she's become possessive and delusional..and I love it! Yes, it's an annoyance, but she's delusional while Joon Ha is afraid of what he'll become if he were to keep holding onto Min Young the way he has. I find it terrible that Min Young doesn't know how he really feels, but then again she's thinking he's been there for her as family. I've always had this feeling that Joon Ha has been by her side the way he has in order for her to stay single. Even if she's not with him, as long as they're like that then that's okay for him..for now. We do know that Min Young used to like him, but put her feelings aside when her older sister married his brother. He tells Hee Sun that to love someone is to let them go when they're happy and she obviously compares it to over protective parenting saying interference is needed. 

     Another thing we've found out is that Bong Sik has had a long time crush on Dong Sook, who rejected him in college. From their interactions, she remembers what she said and it almost seems like she has had feeling for him as well. Seeing how fast he goes when she calls him is just priceless. 

   Now that Hee Sun knows, it all goes downhill from here until episode 16. But this drama has a very solid plot and the writing is superb. Despite the low ratings, they vowed to continue with a well written script due to his stable following and now they know how much this drama means to international fans.
