A Hundred Years' Inheritance/Legacy(백년의 유산): Episode 19 Recap
Episode 19

Chae Won becomes frustrated and asks what she's talking about. Young Ja says that Chul Gyu will soon become the son-in-law of a very rich family and wonders who will remarry first like it's some competition and Chae Won gives a flying crap about it. SeYoon knows that's not what she came for and asks her why she's really there. Before she can answer, someone says Director Lee Se Yoon and it's his dad aka the President of the company. He tells Chae Won he'll see her later and Young Ja is in shock, so much that she drops her bag. She remembers her meeting Seol Ju when she first hears that name and realizes it's the same person. JuRi comes out upset saying she can't live because of her mother. Young-ja still tries to clarify: That man is the sunbae she was talking about? JuRi says yes and looks at Chae Won before taking her mother out of the building. After they're gone, Chae Won is equally as shocked but never really shows it. Outside, Young-ja still wants to make sure that he's the one she's been talking about, she knows that name sounded familiar. JuRi demands to know what she was doing there and as always, Mommy Dearest is meddling because JuRi's "relationship" hasn't shown any improvements. JuRi begins to cry that it's really over now and asks why she had to meddle in their lives when he meant nothing to her. Young-Ja, who thinks JuRi figured it out, asks how and why she knows something happened. Luckily, JuRi still hasn't put two and two together and says the how isn't important. Her mother asks again, what should she do. I have to say that this scene was VERY fulfilling. Seeing Young-Ja's face when she realizes that she's the reason behind SeYoon and Chae Won being closer and it's funny how JuRi is now really angry with her over this, knowing her mother is the sole reason she doesn't have him. Ha!
Chae Won walks into the kitchen and introduces herself as the nutritionist, but the women aren't interested in speaking to her. She offers to help, but they say how could she do that job when the director could know what's going on. Another one tells them to get back to work and stop talking all this nonsense. Chae Won then goes to see Se Yoon. He asks what she's doing there during work hours and she wonders why he lied to her. He doesn't know what he lied about and she says that he never told her he was the director of the company. He tells her he didn't lie, she just never asked about his position. She asks him if that's the reason she got the job because the other workers are gossiping about how she got the job. Se Yoon reassures her that all he did was give her application and they never hire anyone who isn't qualified. She's still worried since it appears they're close, but he reminds her that they're not that close(At least not yet ;p).
We then see the Uhm women ripping into Choon Hee because of her and Hyo Dong not coming back right away from the beach. The accuse her of seducing him and call her names. I applaud Choon Hee because she doesn't take any crap from them and tells them that despite him not being blood related to any of them, he took care of them after his wife died and all they're doing is suffocating him. I honestly didn't feel like typing down everything that was said because this scene just makes me angry. This entire show, these women have been calling her names and not respecting her, just because of the business she owns. I love how they think she's seducing their innocent Hyo Dong when he was the one who kept showing up in front of her.
Young Ja walks into her house looking tired and out of it, the housekeeper is worried and gets her a glass of water. She starts thinking about the other times she interacted with Se Yoon, what she did to him and how it contributed to being closer to Chae Won. She says she thinks she went too far and it will be hard to fix the damages. Now you see the error of your ways? She only feels bad because now she knows he's the guy JuRi wanted and now knows he's rich.
Chae Won is in her office when JuRi comes in and to make it known she's in there and upset, she closes the door with force. She immediately tells Chae Won to resign and she'll find her another job, she wonders why she would even think to work for this company. Chae Won politely asks why she can't work there and JuRi answers her question with a question, like Chae Won doesn't know why and calls her despicable. JuRi says she knows their relationship and accuses Chae Won of asking for the job. Then uses the "he's only helping you out of sympathy" line then calls her pitiful. Calling it embarrassing that she got a job from him, Chae Won says doesn't she think she's being too harsh. JuRi tells her to quit and she's saying nicely. She seems like she's making threat by telling her not to make her cranky for no reason. Before Chae Won can say any more, she's called out for an inspection. JuRi is the only one who is embarrassing herself here, especially when SeYoon finds out who her mother is then he really won't date her. Sweety, your mother ruined it all. Chae Won goes to do a taste test on some food and the cooks ask her to make it quick since they don't have any time. She agrees and thanks them for working hard. She's tasting some of the food and notes that the squid dish is a bit too hot, but they talk among themselves and give each other looks. It's obvious they don't like her critiquing their food and one speaks up. She tells her that she should just stick to making the menus since they know what the employees like, the last dietitian didn't do this. Chae Won simply says she's a 'Miss', she's a dietitian and asks for them to address her properly. They whisper that she only got in because of Se Yoon and say she's already using her power, they all leave.
Chul Gyu stops by to see Hong Ju, who is in the middle of a yoga session. He tells her that he told the matchmaker that he likes her and talks about much it'll mean to his mother. He tells her not to see any guys that she doesn't like and says he's asking her respectfully. She's not buying it and says he's acting, saying that he's only being this way to stand out from the crowd aka other men who she's seen and knows that some marry because of that. He sits back and says that he knew that she was a smart ass, he has has high standards since he's been with so many women. He tells her that if he'd seen her on the street he wouldn't want her near him since she's a 5 out 10. He says to no misunderstand it and he hopes to not see her again. Before he leaves, he hold up his arm and says that her body is nice probably because she works out. When he's gone she says that his actions are cute, she likes him.
At the Uhm household, Kkeut Soon is laying in bed while everyone else is sitting around telling Hyo Dong what Choon Hee said, telling him that she was rude.(I'm guessing they didn't say what they had told her that made her respond like that.). He doesn't believe it since Choon Hee isn't that kind of person, they'e all offended asking if he thinks they're lying. Kkeut Soon says that she doesn't want to see him dating that 'conniving wench' and he should leave the house. Ki-Moon scolds her for those words and Ki-Ok assures him that she's only saying that because she's emotional. She sits up and says she's serious since it's obvious he only thinks of her as the mother of his dead wife. She's thought of him as her son until now. He says that he's always thought of her as his mom, but she tells him that if he thought that then he wouldn't have gone behind her back and dated Choon Hee. Ki-Choon speaks up and asks why she's being so harsh, they love each other. She yells at everyone to get out and sighs.
Choon Hee is counting her inventory when Hyo Dong comes in and looks upset. She wonders how much they tormented him at home. She tells him that his in-laws all came by and were violent and rude, she was scared. He asks how could she say those words to him mother-in-law. She asks what it was and he says that he's treated like a servant and his wife is dead. She says that's not what she had said, but it's not wrong. He tells her that she knows his MIL's temper and had she bowed her head then it would have been different. Choon Hee says that his MIL is shameless and greedy, she should be thankful that he's lived there for so long without his wife. She says she gets involved in everything and doesn't let a word of reality in. He yells at her for speaking recklessly. He says that even if you're hurt there are things that you don't say. Choon Hee yells back that it's because he has no backbone that she's like that, it's not them it's him. Then says he's an idiot, Kang Jin comes in and witnesses this. He gets angry and balls up his fists as if he's going to hit her(doubt he would) and she sees it. Kang Jin comes in and asks what's wrong. Choon Hee continues speaking, asking him if he thinks she likes saying those things to her. They barged in there looking for fight and she got mad. She thinks it's pathetic that she has to explain all of this and breaks up with him. These words hit him and he has to repeat it. She tells him that he has no backbone and she doesn't believe in him anymore. He says that their relationship hasn't been that long so how could she say things so easily. She asks were they getting married, she says just to end everything and pretend like nothing ever happened. His fists are balled up and again and he looks very angry/frustrated. He storms out. Kang Jin asks if she was too harsh on him, why did she break up over something like that. She yells at him telling him to mind his own business. As sad as it is, I'm glad she said this, the Uhm women know no boundaries and need to stay in their place. They went looking for a fight and weren't expecting her to lash back. HyoDong needs to grow a backbone and tell his family to back off and let him be an adult. Choon Hee is the first woman he's really loved since his wife died. It's sad no one can see that, well the woman can't anyway.
Chae Won us at work, greeting all the employees in the cafeteria when she sees Se Yoon who smiles at her, she looks the other way due to the gossip going on about her. SeYoon is speaking to another employee about the food and he says it's perfect for his taste buds(So no one knows about his inability to taste anything). A server asks Chae Won to take over for her while she goes to the bathroom and she agrees. When it's SeYoon's turn, she gives him his dish but says nothing. He asks if she's going to say anything and she tells him to enjoy his meal. He says thank you, he'll enjoy it. This gets her laughing. SeYoon sits with colleagues and asks where JuRi went, they say she went home due to her stomach hurting. He looks like he's worried for a like a second then says let's eat. One worker starts eating and says that the squid is too spicy to which the others join in to taste it, SeYoon looks at everyone else's reactions. One coworker informs Chae Won that's it's too spicy. She apologizes and says it won't be like that next time. The man looks at SeYoon and asks if it's too spicy for him and he says it suits his taste buds just fine. She tells him that he doesn't have to eat it if it's too spicy. He assures her that it's fine. I recall a scene when Chae Won informed the cooks that the food was too spicy and they needed to lighten up on the red pepper paste and they scoffed at that. Next time they'll listen..

Yes, dummy. It's been 3 years. Let it go already. |
Young-ja is sitting at home with a headache when JuRi storms in the house, she wonders what she's doing there. JuRi stares at her mother angrily then storms off to her room to cry. Young-ja tells her to stop crying like that or people will think she's holding a funeral. She rips off the covers when JuRi's crying becomes unbearably loud. She asks why is she crying over a man, is he the only one in the world? JuRi sobs that it's been 3 years since she's looked at him and she was barely able to get him to like her. She asks why is it okay for her mother to wreck her future. Young-ja says how would she have known things would have messed up like this. JuRi tells her she should have given Chae Won some money when they divorced. Her mother yells at her for crying and asks if he's the only man in the world. She wants to set her up with someone with an even better background, but JuRi won't have it. If it's not him then no one else will do. She starts her annoying crying, if that's what you want to call it. She doesn't want her mom to touch her.
Seol Ju is arranging flowers when she receives a phone call from Young-Ja who wants to have meal together. Her housekeeper notes that she's in a good condition today since she's making flower arrangements. Then she flashes to scene with Choon Hee, who informs her that her may come true since she might return to America. Seol Ju thinks to herself that's a good decision.
Choon Hee is eating when Hyo Dong comes in and wants to talk thing out, she says she has nothing to say to him. She says if he didn't come for a drink then he should just leave, he asks her not to misunderstand him from earlier since he was upset. Some men come in and she gets up to greet them cheerfully. They're from a realty and construction company. She offers to bring them some drinks and snack then one of them smacks her butt and Hyo Dong becomes visibly upset, she tells him to leave if he isn't there to buy anything. He says to bring him some alcohol and sits down. He's throwing down beers and appears to be drunk while asking her why she's not paying any attention to his table. She says he's drunk and needs to go home to his mother-in-law. He says he'll buy all the alcohol in the place. One of the guests tells him to go home and sleep, Choon Hee excuses herself and gets up. He passes out on the table after saying he's sober. She says to herself that she can't live because of him.

The towel of love hehe |
Chae Won is about to go home when she receives a phone call about a breakfast meeting at 6am. She calls her boss to ask about it and leaves a message. SeYoon is on his way out when he notices the cafeteria light on and wonders if she's still there. He walks in on her peeling onions and we see that he ends up helping her. She tells him that she's an outcast there all by his favor. He accidentally touches his eye with an onion and gets a wet towel for him. Before he grabs it, he grabs her wrist before that and we can see they both pause for like a millisecond. She tells him he can go home now and he seems offended that he's helped her this whole time and she's sending him away without dinner. A little later, he tells her he's finished and she says she's making fried rice. When she turns around, she has a chopstick to hold her hair up and we see a flashback to his days with Eun Seol and she had her hair the exact same way. He's so lost in thought he can't hear her and she wonders what he's thinking about, he says nothing. Just....
Cut to Chul Gyu driving and he ends up at Chae Won's house, he wonders why he ended up there. He's about to leave when he sees another car pull up. It's SeYoon dropping Chae Won off. He's about to get out when he remembers that she told him her love for him was a waste and divorcing was the best thing. He's upset and watches as SeYoon leaves. He starts crying out 'Chae Won-ah'.

SeYoon sits at his desk at home and takes out a picture of him and Eun Seol. He apologizes for forgetting her lately and say he felt a little bit weird earlier.

The next day, HyoDong apologizes to Kkeut Soon for being so drunk and making a mistake. She says it wasn't a mistake since he was drunk it was probably the truth. Both Ki-Choon and Ki-Moon ask her to let it go as well since HyoDong is such a truthful person. He asks her what he could do to make her feel better and she sits up and asks is he's sincere about that, all 3 men look at her strangely for randomly sitting up like that. She tells him that a friend wanted to set him up on a blind date, she ignored it before but she wants him to now and he's shocked at the request. The 3 women were listening to what was going on. Ki-Choon advises him to show gratitude and adhere to one of her requests or else it could backfire. He says just go on the date and say he's not interested, what can she do at that point? Kang Sook scolds him and asks if he's even on their side. He says he's a believer in love.

Young Ja speaks to Mrs. Go and finds out that Tae-San Group has already set a date and wants their kids to marry soon. Young-ja wonders if they're rushing things, but the matchmaker says that the elite have done this for years and since the president is sick they want him to be able to see his youngest get married. Young Ja asks who still follows tradition, but is met again with the fact that they are elites and that's how it's done. She starts ranting how her family has deep roots too, but is given the answer that they are are the elites of elites in Korea and they should be thankful. Chul Gyu is having tea with Hong Ju and can't believe she didn't get clued in on his feeling yesterday. He thinks she likes him, but she wants to break free from her family. She tells him that even if they don't marry, he has to keep what she is about to say a secret. He agrees. She tells him that she's not the youngest of the Taesan Group unlike what the public knows. She is a product of her mother's affair and her father isn't that clean either. She isn't treated like a human being and can withstand the insults from her father and half-siblings, but being thought of as disgusting from her own mother is what she can't deal with. She thinks she's being pitiful and he has no words, she begs him to get her out of that house.
Ki-Moon and DoHee are checking their noodles and she thinks they're in last place this time, the color and taste are off. She has an idea and whispers it in his ear, he takes offense and says that no one would know. She then gets this ugly Charmander-sounding and says "Yeobo!". Everyone else comes out and notices their stranger behavior then the sight of HyoDong getting ready for his blind date gets their attention. Choon Hee goes into a pharmacy for some medicine because she drank too much and catches HyoDong walking by in a suit looking like a new bachelor. She decides to follow him and see he's on a blind date. Once they sit down, Kkeut Soon starts throwing the compliments at his date's mother saying she's just her style and whatnot. Choon Hee says there really isn't a man in this world you can trust.
Chae Won is in her office and gets a call from Young-ja who wants to speak to her. As we get a full view of the scene, we see that JuRi is with her. She makes sure he mother just hands the money over and ends it. Then she walks back in the building before being caught. Chae Won comes out and is given an envelop and sees that it's money.
Young-ja tells her to stop working for the company, but Chae Won asks what she's so afraid of. Young ja says that her JuRi is too distracted at work because she's there. Seol Ju is getting out of the car down the way and sees her. Young Ja says it's 5 billion and Chae Won says for 50 she might consider it, but she won't stop working there. Seol Ju sees all of this. End.
Is anyone else getting tired of Kkeut Soon and her money hungry daughters-in-law? Kang Sook is only with Ki-Choon right now because of his possible inheritance and DoHee can't even stand the family, but only agreed because of the inheritance as well. They are all over Choon Hee, but fail to look at themselves. Kkeut Soon is just annoying to me. It seems like the only competent people in that house are Pyong Dal and Ki-Choon. JuRi doesn't want her hands getting dirty so she asks her mother to do it for her, she's afraid of competition and knows that SeYoon already has feelings for Chae Won. I may not like Young-ja, but I agreed with her about JuRi moving on and finding someone else. No need to fight over a man, though she'd be the only one fighting since that's not Chae Won's style and stop crying over someone who was never your to begin with. Once he finds out who her mother is, he's really not going to want to be with her. Omo! If Seol Ju finds out how cruel Young-ja she won't want her son to marry into that family, especially once she discovers that she framed her son for being in a relationship with a married woman.
