Drama Review: Fated To Love You Episodes 1-2
MBC's highly anticipated remake of Fated To Love You aired and as someone who saw the original, it wasn't terrible disappointing. While I could generally predict where each part of the episodes were going, there were some surprises here and there that I thought were nice and set this one apart from the Taiwanese version.
Speaking of Geon, can I say how much I love Jang Hyuk's portrayal of him? He gives off a more playful and comedic side to this character than Ethan Ruan did when he played Ji Cun Xi in the original, whose version was far more serious and didn't have this creepy laugh Jang Hyuk seems to have adopted for this drama. We already see that our hero isn't as arrogant as he seems, he didn't have to do his best make sure Mi Young gained some confidence in herself, but he did. Maybe it was also because he knew he wasn't the only one suffering from severe heartbreak, he wanted to be happy and how Mi Young she could also do better. Though I won't say he's the sweetest just yet, this is only the beginning and I know things will take a turn once she discovers she's pregnant. Honestly, Geon was just dumped by Se Ra (Wang Ji Won) and now he's going to deal with a lot more than just a girlfriend who wanted to finish pursuing her dream in another country.
We haven't gotten a lot of screen time with our second lead, Daniel (Choi Jin Hyuk) and only know a little bit about him so there's nothing much to say except I know everyone is already trying to figure out who his sister is (for those who haven't seen the original anyways). I do think it's sweet how he's been taking care of the orphanage he used to live in and has actively been trying to find his long lost sister. He's missing something and wants to know how she's been all this time.
So, what are your thoughts on Fated To Love You so far? Are you loving it or not really?
Sorry this wasn't long, since it's very hot where I live (it hasn't been under 100 for like a week and half).
