Waiting On Prime Minister and I

With the ending to Marry Him If You Dare, next week will be the start of a whole new series: Prime Minister and I starring Lee Bum Soo and Yoona. The drama was originally said to be a Sound of Music remake, but that's flew out the window and the plot somewhat changed. This drama is about the nation's youngest prime minister Kwon Yul (Lee Bum Soo), who lost his wife 8 years ago. He's very good at his job, but not so good at parenting his 3 kids. Nam Da Jung (Yoona) is a rookie tabloid reporter who is given the task of finding out about Kwon Yul's love life and ends up being embroiled in a scandal with him. To preserve his image, they agree to a fake marriage. Then he has his secretary who's in love with him, an aide who loves Da Jung, and a brother-in-law who hates him for his sister's death. Dayum, Houston looks like we have a few problems. Let's explain this, shall we?

Seo Hye Joo is Yul's hoobae from their university days and his assistant, she's been in love with him since college but has never told him her feelings. She gets a shock when Da Jung waltz's in and wins Yul's heart. Kang In Ho is an elite officer in Yul's office and initially despises Da Jung, but then comes to love her the more he knows about her. Then we have Park Joon Ki who is Yul's bother-in-law and apparent mortal enemy. He blames Yul for his sister's death and he knows how Hye Joo (who is his first love whom he still hasn't gotten over) feels about him. For the record, Joon Ki is married and did it for political reasons.

Not gonna lie, I wasn't so sure about this drama. The age difference (Lee Bum Soo and Yoona are 20 years apart) isn't what was making me not want to watch it, it's who's behind it. SM C&C is producing this drama and I wasn't so sure at first because of that reason, but they got some good writers and managed to cast Lee Bum Soo (I've never seen him act, but know he's respected). I know Yoona isn't the best actress, but she isn't the worst. I was worried SM only cast her to promote her more, but I saw the pot and her character description and she's playing a character that isn't like her other ones. I like Yoon Si Yoon as well as Chae Jung An (despite my dislike for her previous drama, I shall not name that). I have never seen Ryu Jin act either so I have zero expectation when it comes to him though I hear good things. I am fully on board now that I have seen the extended preview that was shown at the press conference yesterday.

The reason why I am waiting for this drama to air? I was curious and the previews have made me excited to see it. Da Jung is completely deranged and has an ulterior motive for faking her relationship with the Prime Minister, it's not to make herself look good in front of her friends either. Well the initial part was an accident and now that it has happened, she's using this to her full advantage in order to get the scoop on the real Kwon Yul. How awesome and so un-leading lady like is that? I guess you can say Yul is the typical male lead ass, but he's not really an ass per se. I mean, you'd be mean too if some strange woman was following you around all day, wouldn't you? What I do like about some of the characters is that Joon Ki has some justifiable reasons for disliking Yul. If Yul was really this workaholic who neglected his home life all the time then that would be reason for said wife to leave him, perhaps if she was leaving at the time she passed then Joon Ki's hatred can be warranted. He's not just evil, he's an evil person with a purpose! Now let's hope he won't get too far into his evil deeds that he can't come out of it, well I am hoping for that for Hye Joo. I know some major negativity will come from her side since her love for Yul all these years hasn't blossomed into anything because she failed to speak. In Ho is someone who seems like he will love her from afar unless he has a total other reason to hate Yul then I guess we can count him in on the revenge party too. So much revenge hopefully it all plays out well.
