T-Drama Review: When I See You Again Episode 16

This mostly felt like a filler, but we also got some development which is a good thing. I think Yong Qing finally cracked and saw her scheming won't get her anywhere while we got some major progression and then regression from Yan Ze.

Ya En is definitely Yan Ze's weakness, he doesn't realize it yet.

Our resident bad boy had some stalker tendencies in this episode by showing up to Pu Lang Village to watch Ya En, and you told her not to like you? He then follows her to that Wish Tree where he sees her trying to pull off a tag with his name on it, she says if it gets wet then he'll continue to see her as a burden. Anyways, lover boy 'helps' her while scolding her then kisses her. I mean, it was all sorts of random, but I loved it. Maybe because for once he was doing something he wanted even though he basically took it all back later. Dude, how could you?? Ya En is a persistent one because she lies to everyone about her whereabouts when they got o Taipei and secretly follows Yan Ze around. I personally loved the hotel scene, it was touching and showed his vulnerability. Yan Ze's self-esteem is like zero, he doesn't feel like he deserves love from someone as pure and innocent as Ya En so he's confused as to why she likes him. Acting as if he just wanted to sleep with her showed his desperation and it also showed that Ya En isn't as naive as one may think, she's not dumb and knew what he was up to. I loved her speech and she was determined to show him that she was good enough as the next person. The only thing that upset me was how the scene was just cut, I expected an actual conversation afterwards, but I guess it's better than nothing. The only thing now is for Yan Ze to see that he is good enough and does deserve to love and be loved, I know Ya En will show him that.

Speaking of love, I'm not sure if Mei Wen is still that insecure twenty-something she was when she broke up with Da Fei. It may have seemed like a filler, but there have been hints throughout the drama. Part of An Xi's initial resistance to relationships was Mei Wen's failed one in which she lied and said she was left when she discovered he was engaged. Finally, we learned the truth (thanks to Zhi Lin's  inability to not be nosy) and discover Da Fei wanted to be with her and asked her to go abroad with him, but she didn't want to burden him. After all these years, he's kept her memory alive and has waited for her. Now that he's confessed he still wants to be with her, what will Mei Wen choose? Does she still have insecurities about being with him or will she let that go and allow herself to be loved?

I don't know I am so surprised that Yong Qing was the one to out An Xi's secret, Grandpa was bound to find out, but I was hoping it wasn't from her. Grandpa had every right to be upset since An Xi was the indirect reason why You Qian ended up getting hurt, but I am glad he was rational and listened to his grandson's words. He knew that it was basically You Qian's own fault, but that's his family and it hurts to see someone go through that for another person who seemed to not care. This is why I loved what he said to Yong Qing at the restaurant: She lives a very lavish, but empty life. She thinks she can bribe people to get what she wants, but she has no true friends (she said so herself). A home is where your family is and Grandpa may not have his family house, but he has You Qian and An Xi. I'm glad he finally let her know how he truly felt about her, we knew he didn't like her and only held his tongue for his grandson's sake. Then seeing her break down outside was refreshing because the only time we saw her cry was in her flashbacks. She needs to understand that her method don't work on everyone especially those who aren't materialistic or aren't scared of her. The only thing she has now is that house, which is just that...a building and only has meaning if someone gives it value. Grandpa is okay as long as he has his family, something she doesn't quite understand yet, but will soon.

You Qian and An Xi are still adorable and I love how we've seen their progression as a couple, they've come to really enjoy one another and aren't afraid to act lovey dovey in front of people. They've become your average couple, but since this is a drama I know there is bound to be something that throws an obstacle their way and it's named Luna. An Xi still doesn't she's her mother and You Qian does, he doesn't want to hurt her, but it is something she should be aware of. Enter Luna's cancer diagnosis and now you have a new found mother who is dying. I highly doubt Luna will regret her actions and the pain she's caused her daughter all this time, I don't know what's with her weird sense of false pride, but she needs to see just how much she's hurt her.

We know she won't start to acknowledge the error of her ways until she has no one by her side especially after her company starts crumbling around her. Her first mistake was putting her personal feelings with her business and trying to cut You Qian off for not being with Yong Qing, it's not her place to dictate who he can and cannot date so she screwed herself up there. Then adding on that she has someone close to her who is planning on betraying her, she's so focused on You Qian and An Xi that she doesn't see what Yan Ze is doing. Now the one she tried to cut off will be the one who helps her out of the hole she dug herself into. This will be very interesting.
