T-Drama Review: When I See You Again Episode 12
The moment we've all been waiting for has happened! It only took us 11.5 episodes to get us here, but it's here and it was well worth the wait. The way the scene was directed and the effects of the reveal were actually much better than I imagined.
The manner in which An Xi discovered that You Qian was uni-brow was in typical drama fashion: Heroine knocks something over and finds something that outs our hero as the person she knew years ago. What made it so special is how she reacted to the discovery, she wasn't upset - emotional, but not angry. I guess this is why the writer chose to hold off on this discovery until now, we needed our leads to be in a much different place that they were 3 or 4 episodes ago meaning the reaction would be totally opposite than what we've gotten. Had An Xi found out earlier, she wouldn't have the confidence to be with You Qian and would likely be angry for him deceiving her. However, with her trying to be closer to him the news wasn't all that bad and she was able to overcome that. I also loved the scene that came after with An Xi donning her school uniform while speaking to Uni-brow and asking how he was since he left, it was well executed and I could't have asked for a better way to clear the air between them. The kiss wasn't too bad either ;) Overall, this has brought our couple closer, which is what we've wanted. Now that An Xi has gotten over her guilt that she's been harboring all these years, she can finally let go and be happy.
Yong Qing really is such a grey area, but it's so refreshing that we're seeing more and more of her backstory instead of just making her the villain, we're getting to know who Hu Yong Qing really is. I've already guessed she was hurt by someone in her past, but there's no telling whether that person is a former boyfriend or her father. I don't know if it's the subs, but there's no clear indication on who it is and whether they had a romantic relationship or familial. I wanted to go with past boyfriend, but when Yan Ze mentioned how their mother ran from one guy to the next makes me think otherwise. What if Yong Qing's dad left without another word and that's why she was upset? But it could very well be an ex or something, I hope we do find out because this is key to knowing why she acts the way she does. Same with Yan Ze, we know that he's felt left out since he was a kid so I'm going to love to see his changes, it'll definitely clash with his sister's thoughts and actions. I do wish Yong Qing would see she's putting herself in these situations that warrant You Qian's help and he's already told her it's going to come crashing down on her one day, so he isn't standing on the sidelines she just refuses to listen.
CEO Luna is one we'd probably have to look out for since we're still unsure about what she's going to do next. She doesn't trust anyone who works for her, that has been fairly obvious with her recent ways of "wrangling in" You Qian and what we've seen is that she may be in much deeper trouble in the near future. I am no expert on foreign affairs or financial problems, but she's put in all her resources into one basket since it seems to make more sense finance wise although from what I read, she's making a huge mistake with her decision to abandon You Qian's project. So we will see how it all plays out and whether she'll have to ask You Qian for help. I'm also curious as to how long she can keep it secret that she's An Xi's mother.
